When stocking shelves, please remember to front and face the items. This means, if the items are pegged, take the time to remove them and put the newest pegged items behind (i.e. toilet seats...). If it is a shelf item, remove/move out of the way the older merchandise and put the newest to the back. This is a big issue in aisle 8 with spray paint. Certain products have a shelf life, and if we fail to rotate stock we will eventually lose inventory... not good. Get in the habit of fronting/facing EVERYTHING.
The popcorn tumbler heater was left on (all day) the other day after popping. If you pop popcorn, please be vigilant and remember to turn off the spinner and burner.
Notice we put the plumber's candles (that never sell) up front and at the paint counter. They seem to be selling now, and hopefully will go faster through October. This was Big Dan's idea, and will hopefully help contribute to a higher average ticket. It is thinking like this that will help get our numbers up for the year and help you get your monthly bonuses. Please don't hesitate to share if you think you have an idea that would contribute to sales or operations.
Thanks,
- Nick G
